Hello,

I have a lot of humidity under my aquarium in the stand where my sump is.

I was thinking about drilling some holes in the back of the stand so air could get in and out. Does anyone have a good fix for this? I'm worried over time the damp wood could deteriorate and fail.

At the very least, a couple of small fans from Amazon would probably help quite a bit. That'll at least circulate air around and induce some evaporation.

If that doesn't work, you could always go with the more expensive dehumidifier option.

I simply drilled several holes in the back of my cabinet, and attached a couple 40MM PC case fans that blow out.

Air is sucked through the front doors, and ventilated out the back. No issues of humidity in my stand even on hot days.

I have a fan running for this purpose and humidity free

I also installed a fan in my cabinet. Without the fan, it gets humid and hot in there.

Drill a couple of holes the size of a fan. If the holes alone are not enough then you have the holes ready for the fans to be installed

I have a dual tank set up in a utility room that I paired with dehumidifier for sure. Any spills I have a disappeared in about 24 hours. Get a good one.

If the room the stand is in isn’t high with humidity it won’t help. Will just use electric, add heat to that room, and give you another chore of emptying the water from dehumidifier if it’s not attached to a drain pipe

Yes, you definitely need air flow there. The entire back of my stand is open. All that is back there are some supports. All that moisture being produced by the sump has to have air
