Hurricane on the way looking for a generator just in case we lose power. I know nothing about them so any help would be great. Do the power heads need to run or just the return pump and heater? Thanks.

I have a Powermate Wx series generator. Around 3200 watts. I can pretty much run my house with it in an emergency. Look for one with an auto voltage regulator if you can find one. Helps smooth out the voltage spikes that are common with electric generators.

If you can't find a generator, a couple of battery powered air pumps can be life savers. Good luck!

looks like its not going to make landfall last I looked at its projected path. even tho they already declared a state of emergency for us

I know my situation is not as crazy as a hurricane, but when our power got knocked out for a few hours due to a massive lightning storm - I just backed up my truck and ran my complete reef setup off of it :)

Not saying don't be prepared, but it's not heading your way. Check into the news, been heading out to sea since early am.
