Hurricane Preparation Help

Thanks for all the help guys.. I just got lucky.. One of my neighbors is evacuating & gave us use of their generator so all is well.. We are on the river less than a mile from the beach so this could be a bad one for me.. I have been trying to get a generator for the last few days with no luck so this has really saved the day... Hope everyone stays safe...
To hell with the tank you need to get out of there. Set up a couple bubble stones and head for Orlando. 140 mph wind will take roofs off and they are expecting up to 10 storm surge in that area. That means the water level will raise 10 feet. If you live that close you need to leave before they close the bridge.

Hate to rain on it but its not uncommon in FL to have power outages after storms that can last days to weeks (and they are saying now some areas could be much longer). Batteries and all the 1 day outage kinda stuff are not going to be of much use and your in a worse location than even mine. If I were you I'd be trolling the websites for Lowes, HD and buy a generator online, for pickup, the second one becomes available. I hit 2 tractor supplies and several Lowes and HD's a couple days ago before I made off with the last Generac 5000 at Lowes. Just today I wanted more water and happened to see one of the local lowes had plenty so I bought online and picked it up. Good thing I did because 1100 cases literally vanished from the store. When I was there they had just gotten in several pallets of generators and they were flying out the door too. You just have to watch assuming you can at least check by cell phone.

DJ, from the last update I watched it looks like the strongest part of the storm has a good chance to go directly over you. The strongest part of the storm is at the 2:00 spot . Your safety is far more important than the tank. Stay safe , be smart and hunker down. Best of luck . Keep us posted on your well being. Take care.

We are in a mandatory evacuation zone but we are staying.. Have animals to take care of & of course the tank.. Luckily we managed to get a generator so that will help.. If things get too bad we have another house just up the street thats not on the water & a little more sheltered so hopefully we will get through this.. Many thanks to everyone for the help with all this.. We are as ready as we can be..

Best of luck.

Prayers to you and your family. I was without power for a couple weeks due to a bunch of tornadoes in MA a few years back, I packed the corals and fish in a large cooler and drove to a friends in CT where he had power and set up my pumps to keep up circulation. If you have any reef safe containers that you can move your fish/corals, you could move to a safer location.

Stay safe.

How about an update DJ?! Hope all is ok! North Central Florida here and we had a little rain and wind. News shows quite a bit of damage to the coast line. Prayers to you and your family!!

Thanks for all the concern & well wishes.. We got through the storm easily.. A neighbor that was evacuating lent us a generator on Wednesday & then on Thursday morning we found out there were some at Home Depot so we went over & bought one.. I had 15 gallons of gas in containers & about 50 gallons I could suck out of the boat if I needed to. Power didn't go out until 5am on Thursday morning & it just came back on today ( Sunday ) around 2pm.. The only damage was losing 2 pieces of facia so i'm happy about that.. The surge was only about a foot & didn't even come over my dock.. All in all I'm thrilled at the lack of damage & the fact that everyone is ok.. Thanks again guys..
