Hi all, so it is getting close to hurricane season here in Florida and the surrounding areas. What kind of Preparations do you guys go though when the big storm is on its way!

Generator on hand for when power goes out.
Battery powered bubbler encase the generator wont start, shuts off or runs out of gas.
power inverter encase all else fails i can run an extension cord to the car.
Flash lights
Extra RODI water stored
Boarded up windows
FOOD!!!

Whats on your list?

After last year, I've picked up a few more gasoline containers for the generator. Don't forget batteries for the flash lights and air bubblers. Grab an extra propane tank if you have a gas grill...at least you can cook. The one thing I do want to pick up is a portable room A/C unit. It got pretty hot after Irma!!!!!

I’ve lived on the gulf my whole life. I’ve gotten to where we just store stuff. Water containers, batteries, canned food, food for critters, gas in all vehicles, diesel for the tractor, etc. We don’t get excited at my house unless a storm is forecast to be Cat 3 or better. We prepare but only minimally if it’s less than that. I guess a borderline 2-3 might catch notice.

Good stuff, I forgot to mention we have a 45 foot Pig tail that we plug in the 220 outlet and power the whole house. Just remember kids trained electricians have set our house up for this correctly. Dedicated fuse panel and of course always make sure you shut the power pole off before using this so you don't fry FPL workers.

I have 2 batteries in parallel for my gyre, a battery powered air stone, and a whole house generator.

I may pick up another gas can, but between the 2 cars in the I can siphon a lot of gas if needed (not recommended!)

I was thinking about this today ! I left a note to fire up the generator to see if all was up & ready to go . I bought another 5gl fuel can . The things are pricey ! I collected one off the street also. It looked clean inside & I need to check for leaks . The new nozzles are ridiculous . So I bought a good ole fashion funnel. Irma opened my eyes so I'm going to be ready just in case . Be prepared Folks ! It "could" happen again !

Getting another gas can tomorrow as well!

And yes, the new ones are child proof.

I hope I can figure it out!
