My husband just dropped the light into the tank and it sizzled and then popped. He did a quick 50% water change and then when I saw what had happened I said we needed to get the fish out right away so we've caught her and ready to put her in another tank. Am I right in thinking that I should do this because of the metals that would have leached out? Also crabs and snails in there

If it wasn't in there long, shouldn't be a major problem. Water change and some GAC will help.

I'm going to move her because I really don't trust it. There goes my fallow tank. I think I'll have to start taking the @PaulB approach. I didn't have ich, I was doing it out of caution.... but I'm disappointed. But she's been in QT since Oct 13 and has showed no sign of sickness. I could put her in my fish only display, but our original plan was to put her in the 40b first because she's the most timid fish (sailfin blenny). We have a linear blenny who is much more active that we were going to add next. I don't think it would be a great move to put her in with our bully dottyback in a 29g. Thoughts?

The bulb did break in the tank. We've moved her.
