There we go, I couldn't see any in the video and the lighting made the foot look very white, which is usually a sign of haddoni.

I will say I have bought smaller green gigs that have shorter tentacles to start with (see my gig cutting video) and then they elongate as the anemone ages and grows larger. I'm not sure it's a hybrid, just looks different at this stage. I believe haddoni and gigantea are actually not that closely related, but I just took some samples of some gigs and a haddoni and will hopefully be sending them off to be gene sequenced, it should give us an idea of how similar they are.

Maybe it's an entirely different species. I think the tentacles are longer, since the video and pic was after I threw it in. I'll take some pics after.

Could be. The whole reason I'm sending off genetic samples to be sequenced is to determine if red gigantea exist or if we're looking at an entirely different species of carpet anemone. It wouldn't surprise me...

I've been away for a while (forum burn-out LOL) but it's nice to see that you've sent off samples. I know that Orion wanted to do it a while ago but never got around to it.

I can see why the hybrid question with this nem is relevant: verrucae and tentacles of a gigantea, thick foot without much color like a haddoni. That said, I still don't believe in hybrids of these two -- obviously we don't know much about their reproduction, but I don't see why hybridization would/could occur.

I'm leaning towards gigantea for this one. I know that it's still acclimating, so we'll see what happens once it's settled in.

Nice. I also took a very long break from the forum too. Nice to see you all still around.

I too think it’s a hybrid similar to Minh’s.

Would be great to see your genetic results John.
