Hey everyone!
I am wondering if I have a 30" x 20" x 12 tank.
Should I use a 24 " model hybrid light or a 36" model?

Also what if my tank was 36" x 20 x 12?
Same question.

Planning a new frag tank build. Want to use this lighting unless someone convinces me otherwise!

IMHO, a 24" t5 will cover a 30" tank just fine. But how wide is the led fixture?

With a 36" tank, you should go bigger. There are 30" led fixtures.

I have not made my mind on tank yet. I am looking into possibly an advanced acrylics 30x20x12 or 36x20x12.

Check out maxspect razor x r5 150W

Razor X R5 150W LED Fixture - Maxspect - Bulk Reef Supply

Just put one over my 30" x 24" tank and it is awesome! Fills the tank like T5 but with LED adjustability and shimmer. BRS has a great video about it on youtube also.

If you want all leds look at the OR3
Light bars. 1 bar equals 2 T5s.
Alot of my radion friends are switching to then.
They throw alot of light and grow corals very well.
If I did not run MH I would be running them.
I am going to use 1 blue plus for dawn and dusk.
Another option. On my 36x25x12 frag tank I run 1 150 watt MH as its plenty of light.
I run MH on my display also.

Thanks. I am still in planning period of this tank. My first frag tank. I appreciate the help.
I have read and heard nothing beats the spread of t5 bulbs/mh bulbs.
Are more and more people switching to all led now?
I don't have a preference just want to get what is best!

I just prefer MH.
All my friends run leds and think MH are a joke, lol, until they see my tanks colors and growth.
Many of them running radions are going to Orphek light bars.
No messing with programs just turn them on and off.

Lights are a touchy subject and you will get many different opinions.
They all work in the long run.

Alot of people I know have issues with leds because they keep changing the settings and are impatient with colors and growth.

A few friends that run radions, and know what they are doing, have awesome looking tanks.
Some not so much.
Lighting is just one part of the whole picture.

I have a.i. prime on my Evo which I have been running for 8 months. All my corals are growing fast now which is why I am looking into a smallish frag tank.
I have only changed my light settings once. After I got a par meter. After that they have been left alone!

Keep in mind that hybrid fixture is 18” wide. It’ll provide excellent front to back coverage on that 20” tank. The 24” long one will spread the light fine on a 30 or even a 36” tank. Wouldn’t hurt to get the 36” light either though. Bulb cost will be about the same. Don’t ever get something LARGER than your tank though. You’re wasting wattage and it will look ridiculous hanging off the ends

My opinion:
I’ve had one 36” tank in the past. Loved it. Finding lighting and other 36” items, are harder to find then a 48” tank or a 24” tank. I would go with a 48” tank. Just me...

Used 48” lighting and even 24” lighting is easier to find.

So I'm wondering if this setup would be ok for a 30 or 36 inch. Or would I need a bigger led?

And while we're at it.... This is the tank I have been looking into... What are your thoughts? This model comes with pump and accessories it says

I have the same set up but I’m running 52 HD so I would probably get the 64HD or a Radi

My tank is 32”
If I went with the 30 inch tank would I be ok with the 32hd or is it just not gonna work. I know I shouldn't try and save money on these things but this year kinda sucked.

36 inches is a standard size and much easier to find lighting for. I have a 65 gallon that’s 36 inches and cover it end to end with 36 inch t5 and AI primes.
Do you know if I could put 2 AI primes on the light unit above? If so would this be a better option?
