Hello All...

I have two T5 LED retro kits on the way (4 Bulbs Total) from BRS going to add those in conjunction with my AI Hydra 52HD. Plan on making a Floating canopy as I already hang my LED from the ceiling.

Below is a pic of the canopy plan.

Plan is to attach L brackets to the darker wood section and hang it from there. Overall the whole assembly weights around 17lbs. Going to paint it white same as the AI so it should only stick up around 1/2" above the top part of the canopy. Anyone see any issues or have any ideas?

I had a 40b with a ATI T5 6 bulb and DIY LED strips (blue and UV mix). Love the combo, brings out good color and growth. Just consider what bulbs you'll be running for T5 and how the T5 may wash out the LED or vice versa.

Yeah I’m definitely looking at blue plus and coral plus.

All depends on the room and where you will likely view it from. In my case I sit in a chair quite close to it so unless I make it chunky ugly looking I’m gonna see bulbs sometimes.

Just be sure the ‘skirt’ is long enough to hide the bulbs from any viewing angles.

I hear that...:unfortunately I didn’t think of that when I built mine. That was quickly fixed. Lol

I’m putting it a 1” below the bulbs. I typically view it standing in front or at a distance frame the couch.

Got the materials cut. Going to start putting it together on Monday. Should have it built this week. I’ll put up some progress pics later.

Had to modify the design a bit. Coming out good so far. Going to sand and paint next.

emptied the tank to install the canopy, but a full view of it. if i could have hanged it i would have but being that i live in an apartment just went with 3/4" steel bars instead lol.

Yeah had i done this from the beginning I probably would have gone the steel behind the tank, but since i had the holes in the ceiling already I went ahead and used those. I do have to add a counterweight in the front to keep it from leaning though lol the ballasts were heavier than i thought they would be. More than one way to skin a cat right...;) Looks good!

Can you show the back of the tank?
