What kind of goby is that?

It's a diamond watchman goby

Do you only see cyano between the glass and sand? I always had that once the sand matures. I've read and heard it is because of outside light. I didn't believe it so I tried an experiment and covered a section of glass with a piece of construction paper in 2 spots after cleaning it in one and not the other. Both locations had no cyano after 3 weeks. Guess it's true lol.

Doesn't grow on the glass or rock. It's strictly on the sand. The room that my tank is in doesn't have windows and is completely dark when lights aren't on.

Not really sure on the actual reason why they were delayed. I'm guessing it was solely on FedEx because they refunded the original shipping to BZA.

It's an Apogee QMSS-E. It's old but it still works and will be fine measuring par for my old and dusty metal halides lol. When I get a free minute I'll make a par map of my tank.

So its been a couple weeks since I've gotten my nitrates under control and my corals all seem to be doing much, much better. Now I can start to battle my other annoyance in the tank, red cyano. At first it was only on my sanded but its starting to spread up and on the rocks.

So now at this point I'm going to try something new to me, Blue Life Red Cyano RX. Marc Levenson says this stuff works great so I am going to give it a try. I'll be doing my first dose in the morning, wish me luck! haha

Here's a quick walk through video of my Geo's Reef calcium reactor setup. The way I have it set up makes it insanely easy to dial in and tune. No counting drops here

So this day 2 for the Blue Life red cyano RX. Its a 72 hour dose so we are 48 hours in. @melev says on his site to check at 72 hours and if its still there to wait another 24 hours. So far I am noticing a drop in cyano but there is still some there. But as you can see from the pics the cyano that is still here has become very stringy. My water has also developed a slight red tint to it. It's taking everything I got to bail and do a water change lol

From afar the sand bed looks to be clearing with a bit on the rocks

So a box showed up this morning, weird....

These are the frags from the @A Reef Creation live sale! I was able to get the RRC Pink Cadillac(e5), ARC Fireworks and they sent a free acro as well, that was a definite surprise and thank you so much Randy!

I am drop acclimating them now because there is a big difference in our alk. Mine measured at 175ppm while theirs came in this morning at 128ppm. I most likely won't be able to snap pics until later tonight because I have to leave for work soon.

Also I wanted to do an update my cyano situation last night but there was a cable/internet outage so I wasn't able to I'll do that later as well

So to update on the Blue Life red cyan RX.

Yea, this stuff works and works well. The only scary part to me was the 3-4 days of practically no filtration besides filter socks in a tank with 4 nice sized tangs haha. But other than that after you do the water change and fresh carbon the tank is crystal clear and clean sand and rock. Here are some pics

@melev was right on the money with this stuff. Do I recommend it? Most definitely. I will keep some of this on hand from here on out and will make it part of my bi yearly maintenance on the tank.

This past weekend was the A Reef Creation live sale. I was able to snag a couple pieces from the hundreds of people all fighting for frags lol.

I LOVE those blastos! Your tank looks great too. I have a different species of cyanobacteria I believe in my tank. I'm about to treat it with chemiclean. The stuff that Melv suggests to use I also have not used before. Is it difficult to get your skimmer dialed back in like it is with chemiclean?

My skimmer wasn't too difficult to dial back in. When I first put it back online I opened the valve all the way to keep the level at it's lowest. It might have kicked out a quart of skimmer if that. It let it run like that for 24 hours then I set it back to its usual level.

Some people might think I'm crazy for doing this but after I thought about it, I figured why not lol.

I turned my Geo's Reef kalk reactor into a skimmate locker!

I thought about selling it and having @geo make me a custom locker but in reality I might have been able to get $100 for it possibly. And a new locker would cost triple that maybe so I figured why not lol. I put in a quick disconnect fitting from the skimmer cup to the locker and I also put a float switch on the other side of the lid so if it fills the apex will shut down the skimmer and send me a email/text.

I then took the filler cap and put a mesh bag of carbon for a vent. I think I might try to make something look a little nicer for this part but for now this will work.

I'll remove the maxi jet this weekend after I make a trip to lowes for some plumbing pieces.
