I'm close to buying a hybrid system particularly the noopsyce I like the legs you can add but are only about 8 inches . So my question is can t5s bleach corals or burn them better said ? My rock work is a little high up heres a pic I'm thinking of only using ati blue plus and coral plus . Hopefully some one can chime in.

I was going to keep my red sea 90 lights which so far been good

As said, T5s are a relatively gentle light. Someone else can choose a more technically correct adjective here, but the point is they are much less likely to burn anything during acclimation unless taken to the extreme.

I would still plan to acclimatize by running the T5 channels say.. 2-4 hours the first week and step it up to eight over a couple months. But you could go faster without much trouble.

I am a big fan of T5 hybrids. Really helps with shadowing.

Thanks I'm gonna jump on these. The noopsyce is 4 bulbs should I start with 2 at a time?

Don't think you have to but cannot hurt to add the second channel later. To me, it is more about the run time.

If you are currently 2-part dosing, keep track of your ALK. Adding T5s has always added consumption in the first few months. Also, set a reminder somewhere to change out the bulbs in a year.

8 hours on the off.
Tank is 10 months.
4b+ 4c+.
You started with frags?
The tri color on top came from my nano all others were frags.
Here is the purple stag and tri color growth about 6 months.
Tank is also a no water change system.

I’ve always ran my T5’s for 12 hours in the past, but that was when I had a four bulb fixture over a 29 gallon SPS tank without any LED’s.

I just bought an 8x bulb T5 fixture for my 3- foot 115 gallon tank and I plan on doing the same thing. I spend a lot of time at home and I like my tank to be lit most hours that I’m awake.

If I had your setup, I’d stick with 10k or 14k bulbs and use the LED’s to supplement other colors as desired. However, I have no experience with LED lighting outside of my refugium so take what I have to say with a grain (or handful) of salt.

Question how many hours should I run the t5s ?

My total lightning period is 12 hours.. LED's start ramping up at 9am, At 11am first set of T5's come on, At 1pm my second set of T5's come on, At 3pm my LED's hit peak and start ramping down, At 5pm my second set of T5's turn off, At 7pm my first set of T5's turn off, LED's continue to ramp down, At 9 pm tank goes dark.. Currently running all blue+ bulbs and use my LED to tweak colors to my preferences.

Tank is a year and a half old, virtually everything started as small thumbnail size frag except Lobo..
