Hydnophora

my hydnophora is in the lower half of my tank. It started as a 1 inch Frag over a year ago. It hasn’t branched out much but it encrusted a lot.

Any reason mine is not fuzzy anymore? It has easily doubled in size and gets super swollen during the day but for the last 3 months it has never fuzzed up. Parameters have been pretty stable during that time but I did go up in size with my tank 16g to a 30 and it might be a bit lower in the tank. Does stronger light get it to extend more? The picture kinda stinks but it does get very tiny when not swollen.

I am running a medium to low light tank. Tank is all lps at the moment. Hammers torches, frogspawn, goni, blastosx cyphastrea, Duncan all doing well.

Watching the brs 160 videos Ryan did mention that hydno can do well under higher light and flow. I was hoping I could place it in the higher areas of my tank. Anyone have experience with them higher up in the tank?

Mine is middle center of tank, ATI 8-bulb. I just had a chalice do the same thing to a goni

Really not the best pictures, the tank is big and the Hydnopora colony is 1,5 meters away from the window:)
But you can see the top of the colony behind the Pavona coral. It's about 30-40 cm high.

And this is if you zoom out. The Hydnopora is up in the middle, a bit to the right :)

is this your tank? That has to be the best one I’ve ever seen! It looks very natural.
