I got 2 nice size colonies from a local guy who didnt have room, and he said they were pink and green hydnophora. I have had them for about 2 weeks and they are still pure white. I thought maybe they were bleached, but still showing no signs of any color. Both colonies have good pe and seems to be showing growth

is there such a thing as white branching hydnophora?

Prolly to much light I think there Lps iirc... One thing is for sure keep them away from anything you don't want to lose they pack a powerful sting!!!! If it happens to fall over or touch something it will take out anything it touches.... Hth

The guy i got them from had them in the sand of a 40 gal tank under 175w halides. i have them about 6" from the bottom catching indirect light from one of my 175w halides. I figured after 2 weeks it might at least show some color. I will try moving them to the sandbed

Bob,
I normally keep my hydnophora up high in the tank under high lighting 250W MH. When I put it down low like it was in my temp system mine started to lose the green and just have like a lite brown look to it. Since I have moved under the lights, it has started to color back up. IMO one of the most hardy coral out there. I have had this one over 5 years. I almost killed it once from a faulty coralife digital thermometer. The tank hit 94, I lost several coral and the hydno survived just turned white on me but came back in a matter of a couple months.

Looks like i just need to give it more time. I just thought that after 2 weeks i might see some color returning.

on a side note, the blastos and duncans still look good. trying to talk the wife into taking all the coral you have left. we will see

Great to hear. I'm just glad the blastos went to a good home, that was my favorite out of all I have had. You have a nice family, it was pleasure to meet them.
