i have two aqueon 1650 on a wave make now and so far so good. they were ran normal for a year and a half, only on the wave maker for 3 weeks so time will tell.. oh and my 1650s will move water across my 180g

I guess I have been one of the lucky ones.... I have had my 1400's for about a year now no issues... I run 2 of my 3 on for 6 min, off for 1 min with my AC jr. with the 3rd and my tunze 6060 on constant flow in my 180g.... I wish they had the power of the 6060 tho lol

Sure a pair of mp40's would be awesome, but for $800-900 I can get a few more 1400's.... and a ton of coral :)

I have alot of opinions on powerheads. The first hydors were great as you didn't have to spend hundreds on powerheads and they worked pretty well. Almost to wide of flow. Then they brought out the magnums, which are by far my favorite out of all, then they came out with the smaller evo's, but the evo's are the worst of the bunch imo. They stop starting up after months of use and just a pain. Not to mention a 1050 probably pushes around 500gph instead of 1050gph like stated. One powerhead that gets overlooked alot is the sicce powerheads. They are quiet, powerful, can fit them in a small spot and hide them easily and come with a 3yr warranty. Price isn't bad either. I see them as one of hte best out right now. They also start up the right way every time as well.

I had the Sicces before switching to Evolutions. They are huge in comparison, draw over twice the wattage and the brackets are a PITA. I liked the adjustability of the brackets at first but everytime I touched one it fell off and required both hands in the tank to reatttach. I was very unimpressed to say the least.

The Evos constantly stop working for me. I even had one blow the side out of the pump one day. I am slowly switching everything over to Tunze.

I love my sicce pump not really much bigger than the evos & I haven't had any problem with the brackets have them on the red sea wavemaker for 4 months now & no problem with them restarting not saying they never will but the evos had problems starting the first week & continued no matter what hydor sent to fix them I also like that they put out a broader flow than the more forceful evo one because I can now point them at the live rock to keep it clean where with the evos I had to point up to the surface & the live rock had to be turkey basted every day the last 1050 evo I had in the tank ran backwards even tho the front grill was in place hydor said that was impossible yet it was doing just that thats when I gave up & switched to the sicce
