So I pulled my Hydor 1250 out yesterday and cleaned it, put it back in the tank and powered it up only to find it running in reverse, anyone ever heard of this before and if so is there a fix?

Thanks, Bob.

Yes this has also happened to me on a couple pumps. I would have to unplug and plug them back in multiple times and then they would start spinning in correct direction.

Always wondered what caused that.

+1. They just do it for some reason. Unplug and plug back in should do the trick

Also the response time on that was fantastic, I'd still be on the phone with tech support( your call is important to us...) This community is fantastic!

They are direct AC powered pumps, meaning that they can start in either direction since AC alternates. DC pumps can only start in forward unless they are designed to be able to reverse.

Check the front cover for cracking and breakage. The rubber bump stop is probably missing. Hydor Customer Service will replace the front covers free of charge if you contact them and that will correct the situation.

I can't express how impressed and greatful I am guys, now I have the quick fix, the long term solution to prevent further issues, and the science behind why the problem occurred. This hobby continues to teach me more and more every day. I'm so glad I joined this community! Going to have a lot more questions when my new build begins in the next few months.
