I don't really see much buzz about hydor skimmers out there so I thought I'd give them a little love. I have a hydor 305 and absolutely love it. It pulls a ton of gunk out of the water and, save for the fact that you have to buy an additional pump to run, it's really simple to use and tune. I have it set up next to my sump and the additional pump powering it is a small maxijet (the old school ones that you could chuck into a canyon and it would still work). Anyone else out there using hydor skimmers?

I have a 700 model that I let my friend use since he was a nobie, it worked great on my 120 gallon. Recirculating skimmers work great, long dwell time.

I have the 1005 on my 150 gal (prob 180 total with sump, fuge, rock work). It was given to me and seems to work well. I use it on a manifold so it’s hard to know if I have it dialed in perfectly but it pulls a lot of crud out.
