Hi-
So I have a new router and shockingly AI is impossible. I can get a second light to connect and all says store demo. It won’t change. Now it won’t reset to flashing red when I hold the button down. Any ideas. Thanks

I’m with you. I have no idea exactly how I do it, but after 20 minutes I usually figure it out.

They should reset holding the bottom, but since yours aren’t have you tried unplugging them. Sometimes I use my WiFi to connect direct to the light and not the router. Then I try to move the light to my router network in the settings section of the app

. I wish I could be more helpful. AI does have video on their site if you haven’t checked it out.

I own 3 hydra 26’s and they are not the most straightforward to troubleshoot. To make matters worse, I chose to add them to my Apex for centralized control. On more than five occasions, I have noticed that one or several of my lights turns off when it is not scheduled to. Here are a few tricks that I have been using:

1.) Unplug and then plug in the light (already identified as a solution)
2.) If any of the configured lights are disconnected or unplugged, I have found that it causes problems with the others. This may be an Apex-linked only problem. For example, if I unplug 1 light from the wall outlet, another light may turn off for 5 minutes then back on.
3.) Reset the AI light (last resort in my experience)
4.) The WiFi card in these lights is very weak - I measure it at around 1 MBPS. While that is not a limiting factor, I do question if my lights disconnect when radio interference is higher than usual. You might have good WiFi in the room where your AIs are located, but can the AI light fixture produce a signal strong enough to communicate back to the router? My point here is to make sure that your lights are not too far from your router.
5.) I have solved problems by restarting my router. I don’t think my router was causing the problems, but in one example it did fix my problem and restarting does does establish fresh connections.
6.) I made each AI hydra in my network have a static IP address. This helped me out so that every time they restart, my router issues the same IP address. Funny story I recently swapped routers and went back to my old router to lookup the MAC addresses to configure the same static IP addresses in my new router - that solved my problem between the Apex and the AIs! This trick was necessary for my Apex to “see” them on the network. Might not apply to everyone.
7.) If you are connecting it to another controller, keep in mind that most routers block IP broadcasts for wireless devices. By connecting my Apex by Ethernet temporarily to my router, I was able to get past this for setup.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the write up. That’s a keeper. Not sure what an IP is but you had a better reference than the junky AI vid.

The WiFi is crazy weak. I ended up putting a Belkin range extender in the room and I have not lost connection since. I also put a bat in the same room. Next time I will accidentally break them and go Radions. :)

Ha, sorry, I made a few updates to make it a bit more readable.

For some reason one of the lights stays in demo mode. The one that is working is over my sps so it should be fine. Probably just gonna deal with it after I move the lights to the new tank this weekend. I should have all plumbing done In a few days.
