Hey guys just wondering what lights I should lean towards for my tank. I have a 72"L X 30"D X 24" W. 220 gallon with approximatly 15G displaced from rock. My rock is across the whole tank hotizantely averaging 19" from the top of the water. Have room underneath and all around bottom of rock. Lights will be 12" above the top of the water. I will be enclosing the top of the tank.

Looking to have a hybrid coral heavy tank.

I was thinking 3 26s would do the trick every 18".

I look forward to your experienced responses.

Thanks Dave

I think 4 would be better.
In reality the lights hit a 18 to 20 inch area pretty well. Outside that it gets dim fast.

I have a Reefer deluxe that has the stock 3 26's. Red Sea claims SPS can go anywhere at their recommended settings. The tank is only 22 inches deep
with lights 10 inches off water line.

With lights at 12 inches and a 30 inch deep tank careful coral placement will be required. With 4 lights you can place coral almost anywhere and coverage will be more even.

Cant speak for the 52, it claims 36x36 coverage. Most posts I've seen recommend 26's over 52's.

AngryWalnut. Thanks for the response. I may have to bump to four then. I agree though, the 26s would be the prefered means in my mind as well.
