Hey all just had a question on what you guys think I should run the lights at over a 12g tank? The tank will be sps dominated

I'll start by saying I do not have, nor have I ever owned a Hydra 26. Just being transparent.

A 12g tank is shallow (assuming a standard 12g tank?). The Hydra 26 can be intense at high settings. SPS corals typically do OK to better under higher PAR levels. You said, "The tank will be sps dominated", which implies it's not now? So how long has the tank been set up and running? How much coral do you have in the tank already?

All that said, I'd start with the led setting at or even below 50% power. That should be more than enough for any sps corals in a shallow tank at the start. Maybe somebody here can give you a PAR level of a Hydra 26 at the water surface and at 12" deep so you have a starting point.

Tank is just getting going it's only been setup a few weeks.

You could run a hydra 26, you'd just be running it at very low intensity. I would try to copy someones settings for a similar size tank at a similar light height, you would hate to try to find the 'perfect' light settings whith coral in the tank and run the risk of burning them... Maybe a PAR meter would also help determine what setting would be adequate.

do it! i ran a 26hd over my 10 gallon cube. Worked my way up to 100% intensity on some colors. Everyone was happy!

Do you happen to remember the settings you had?!

I was running the AB+ settings from the discussion forum on here...do a search and itll pop up. i ran that to the letter, no adjustments. Acclimated over 3 weeks to full power

I would mount them as high as possible. I have 2 hydra 52 HD’s 16”s above my 50 gallon cube
