Hydra 26HD VS Radion Gen 4

I think biggest difference is wattage in my opinion both use the same 2 puck design so that would be my guess. Im aware that a ton of people love radions but I have had much better growth with the hydra 26’s and 52’s. Im not sure if this is because there is less shading since hydras use more pucks but that has been my experience. Color wise they are both very good but I would say radion takes the win with overall asthetics the shimmer is great. Speaking of hydras, here is a tank that really impressed me today, 6 feet long lit with 8 hydra 52’s

Looks awesome just wondering what I’m missing out on. Running hydra currently myself.

To me lighting is just one piece to the puzzle.

Being able to feed an reef (while keeping your phos and nitrates in check) helps a lot too.

I know radion users are gonna bash me but I really don’t think your missing out on anything. A lot of companies use them because they are sponsored by them. I respect boom corals a lot for not jumping on the follow train being sponsored by radions.instead he uses different lighting systems that he has good success with.

They are both very good. Running Hydra52s in a 30 breeder and Radions Gen4 on the display. The blues are better with the Radions, but use more power. It's a trade off on features and colors. Cost certainly is a consideration.

Yes I am starting to see that now, I have realized lately the lighting debate is almost like placing a group of people in a room and fighting over what is the best phone its something that they will never decide on. There is success with just about every single lighting system in this hobby and stunning displays to back it up.

Jim- do you have a lighting schedule I can browse at?

Radions look a lot sleeker, have better lens/diffuser. They also cost a lot more than hydra. I’ve got two hydra26hd over my Red Sea reefer 170 and my acroporas are growing.
