HYDRA 26HD

Hi guys,

Yesterday i tried my news hydra's 26 mount (the with paint is missing, work of the week end). I'm verry happy with them, the tank seems to be more "airy" and especially they cost me only 35€ !!!!.

Another point, i had a discussion by mail with a guy of AI. For a tank like mine, i said to me that my power level should not exceed 40% and no more 20% of white.... Of course i do not question about the expertise of him, i'm just a newbie, but it's seem to me little, do you think so ?? Now, i'm running at 70% for all blue and 40% white for 7 hours for a amount of 53W for each hydra.... I'm very lost with this setup....

My hydras are now at 12" high, my SPS are between 8" and 10" below the surface and lps are 16" below.

And with my Galaxy S6 and a luxmeter app, i find in a square of 18"x18" in center 35-40 000 lux and 11-12 000 at exterior of the square...

Bye

I am not sure why the AI rep would suggest such a low setting. As long as you make intensity changes slowly, coral will adjust. Perhaps the person meant that as a starting point?

Hi Lenny

I don't know... I'm going to follow your advice. Now, i'm running with the setting i notice in my last post and going to 90% blue and 60-70% white maybe using the aclimation mode. Thanks for all :) :)

Thanks Frop :)

here a new pic of the tank with the mount painted in white.

I decided to set up the light regarding the Coral Lab by Ecotech with the radion. For the beginning i deecided to select the program SPS AB+ but with a maximum of 90% for the blue. I'll see how the corals will react. Hope i've made the good choice.

What's the dimensions of your tank?

Personally, I'd go to Lowes/HD and pickup a piece of aluminum, 4 spacers and screws that fit the light (you can take the one that comes with the mount/bar that screws into the light to test fit). Then make a "bar-mount" modification so you can turn the light the other way (think 90* on the horizontal axis to what you have now). That's what I did and it helped a lot.

My tank specs are the following: 48'' x 24'' x 24'' Do you happen to have a pix of your installation WABOSS? Also, WHY my tank loos so blue is I am still in acclamation mode since this is my first time running LED's and I dont want an Algae outbreak.
Here my current settings.

White: 50%
Red: 10%
Green: 10%
Blue: 75%
Royal Blue: 75%
Violet: 10%
UV: 10%

Here's how it's setup now:

This is the same bracket I used on EXT mount. The only difference is that I had the bracket under the horizontal bar coming out from the main support bar (that connects it to the stand). I drilled a more appropriate hole in the horizontal EXT bar for where I wanted the light hung and just ran a bolt/nut through it. Also, I put a dab of blue loctite on the threads (bolt side.....between "home made" bracket and light) to make sure it wouldn't work off.
