I have been running my lunar but at 0% and I am unable to view anything. I certainly dont want to have a huge algae outbreak but no sense in having them and not using them. Is there anyone out there that has them running at night and what are the parameters? Thanks in advance

You have to have a percentage greater than zero. The lunar algorithm reduces the light output from whatever setting you have during the hours of the day you have enabled lunar control. Therefore, 0% setting yields no light. I run my AI Primes at 1% dark blue. This results in the tank being totally dark for about 4 days around the new moon. Blue seems too bright to me. White definitely is too bright at 1%. I run lunar from 11PM to 6:00 AM

I honestly never liked the Lunar effect with the Hydra/Director. Having even just the deep blue at the minimum required 5% was just way too bright IMHO. So I just setup the deep blue at 1% for a few hours after lights out and turn it off completely like at 4 AM, just a couple of hours before the light cycle starts again. The good thing is it is a nice subdued light, the bad thing is it doesn't follow a lunar cycle, it's just the same every night.

So with your Hydra detector they don't go completely dark around the new moon? My Primes do. Although I can't say for certain the lights are dimmed at increments less than 1%. They may just take step from 1% to zero. I'll keep a closer eye on it to verify.

I have the HD's 26's and run them at %1 on the lunar setting. On the new moon the tank is dark on the full moon the tank is lit up. Very cool effect, the fish are all a sleep.
