Okay, so we all know there are some many light options out there, that’s it’s similar going to a wall mart or grocery store and picking out ice cream to binge down. I am kinda of a research nut, but the more I have researched this, the more back peddling I see.

So here is my current situation, I have a 240 gallon tank with all coral types and they do amazing. I currently have two current orbit marine pros 72 inch w 60 degree lens. (FYI these are not the loop system ones, they are the pros released right before it). I also have three or the fluval marine 2.0 reef lights. (Come laugh it up guys and girls, but those things are amazing). Anyway I run the current pros on the sps setting which is preset #3. I also only run the fluvals on blue as well since they have a 120 degree angle. Between the currents and the fluvals I get more spectrum then either the radions or hydras. Plus all of my lights sit directly on top of my tank, which to me is more simplistic and clean and I don’t have to hang my lights etc.

So, what is the reason for this post, good question. No, lol but my reason is I have thought about switching, I have. But I don’t want to if I can’t see the difference. My corals already are beautiful, when I buy them from the shops (where they use hydras and radions they don’t look any different). My growth rate is equal to or slightly above normal to most people. But for the cost of these lights, what would I even be gaining? I’m all for the best equipment etc, but only if it makes a difference. It should also be known, that I’m not huge fan of everything on line, connecting to my phone etc. I simply want what’s best for my critters. I know we all love what we have and support that but just looking for some different angels to view.

Honest question , and quite wise.

It’s because they all actually work.

Caviat, they all work if you get it right.
Tis a poor craftsman that blames his tools.

An old friend once gave me his 8gal Nano. Brimming with corals sponges and macros. Very very nice display. No skimmer, one powerhead.

Lit by a Phillips par 38 led from Home Depot.

Sounds like your current lighting setup is working well. By the time those fixtures break or die years down the road can you imagine the new tech that will be available then and how much better it will be compared to what you can get today.

I have a G4 Radion pro and I love it. The truth is in a couple of years there will be much better options available. Point is I won’t be upgrading til this G4 dies.

That’s the way to do it. When my fixture dies...I’ll just be replacing the ballasts. Gonna Use this ati sunpower until bulbs are no longer made

In addition as a shock to most people this is, ummm I don’t even have a smart phone. I still have this stupid little flip phone from high school. I have an Apple Mac book pro, but it’s my main research computer so I don’t use it for much other than on here or, loading my pathetic SIM card into my computer to down load the pics of my tank. From my understanding I have to have a smart phone, or ipad to even get these lights to work. Hmmmm. Does this mean I will have to update my early 2002 phone, oh please say it’s not so!
