I've noticed several of my cerith snails are covered with snail fur (Hydractinia echinata), but I can't find any info on whether this species of hydroid is harmful or benign. Does anyone know? Sorry for the lousy pictures, it's really hard to get my phone to focus on them.

Not sure, but generally hydroids are not good, they tend to go away with time and I have seen them in my tank only when it was started first,

Thanks. The tank is only about 5 months old. I'll take the affected snails out tomorrow in a bowl of tank water and try to scrape them off.
