I recently purchased a titanium hydrofill auto top off controller and pump. The unit worked the first time I filled my reservoir. On my second fill, the pump has stopped working when the water gets low so it is currently just a huge waste of money for me. I am hoping that someone with some experience using this product either currently or in the past can help me troubleshoot as there is not much information online when you do a search. I may just have set it up wrong as I have only been in the hobby for about 6-8 months and this is my first experience with a auto top off system. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Welcome to R2R! So I’m assuming you have the sensors positioned correctly if the unit worked initially.. Do you have another small pump you can try? If it runs you will know it’s not the controller that’s faulty.

I use that ATO on one of my tanks but not the matching pump, I just picked up a small $10 pump at petco and the system has been working great so far.

I would also just consider returning it.. If it is a new system and the pump has failed it should still be under warranty, contact retailer or manufacturer for a replacement

Yeah, I bought it through the internet so I basically just didn't want to go through the hassle of having to send it back if there was a reason it isn't working that I am not aware of. I appreciate your reply and will definitely take your advice and check it with another pump first.

I have had issues if my skimmer goes nuts and produces too much foam and spills into my return chamber. The film this leaves on the sensors they stop detecting the change in conductivity and do not engage the pump. Try cleaning the sensors and see if it engages the pump.

I also switched to their pump ad it doesnt seize when running dry.

Ok. I have their pump so running dry shouldn't be the problem. I will clean off the sensors and see what happens when I get home this afternoon. Thank you for your help!
