I did the H202 test on my cyano a couple of weeks ago and confirmed that it is susceptible to H202. I've been reading twilliards thread on H202 not sure why it is locked at this time?

https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/back-at-it-peroxide-vrs-cyanobacteria.241002/

I have been dosing vinegar and vodka together 2x daily to try to knock my nitrates down and would also like to dose H202. Have people had issues dosing H202 in tanks where they are carbon dosing? I obviously would use a separate doser I'm just wondering if it will impact the denitrifying bacteria I'm trying to establish with carbon dosing.

From what I've read the dosing regimen for H202 is 1mL/10gallons 2x daily for 14 days. @twilliard and others, thoughts?

the carbon dosing is giving you cyano. maybe dial back the dose. its a common problem.

Yeah I know it's definitely fueling it. I've had this underlying cyano problem regardless and want it gone :).
understood. I belive its the Vodka more than the vinegar, personally id go that route.
Do you think its nutrints, excess co2 or dissolved organics fueling it. (the original prob that is)

Honestly it has to be nutrients this tank has always been high in nitrates (with a respectable phosphate level). It didn't help that I introduced this pretty resilient strain of cyano. It is a barebottom tank with good flow and I am very diligent about removing detritus. Adding carbon in the mix is a perfect storm to fuel the cyano but for this tank I'm determined to move forward :).

FWIW I'm using a mix of 31% vodka (80 proof) and 69% vinegar (5%)...with the idea that this would be less desirable for cyano ha.

I believe its vice versa. Check Randy's Carbon dosing article.

Id also look into the other causes I listed there too. My N/P has gone up and down over the years and I usually don't get cyano. Pretty odd for a "dirty tank"

I'm using a recipe off of the other forum by the member "tmz". It's a bit off from DIY nopox which they figured to be around 41% EtOH and 59% vinegar but others have had good success with it. I've also been using vibrant (I know ha) for about two months so cyano has been able to carve out a nice little niche lately without certain competing algaes. Certainly I could cut vibrant out of the equation as well to simplify things. I know if I eradicate the cyano something (likely hair algae at this point) will take hold of the nutrients but I'm hoping carbon dosing will be effective by then.

whew. Id not mix all the above there. The vibe has a carbon source too. I would have assumed the Vibe would cut the nutrints to nothing, its a leading complaint. the other one is cyano afterwards possibly from the carbon or the decaying particles of the dead algaes.

Agreed the 3 combined could be adding too much to the party. Vibrant hasn't made a dent in my nutrients sadly and it will be easy to take that out of the equation. It has done a good job in getting rid of most of the bubble algae I had which was my main goal. Certainly, something else was going to take its place so I expected the cyano since I knew it was in the system.
