Hello reefers!

I started last night dosing hydrogen peroxide to try and help ich in the tank that I just got from my new blue tang.. I also have some Algae (Dino’s, Diatom, or gha).

I dosed 1ml/ per 8 gallons ( for my 120 gallon was 15 ml). I did this three times in 2 hour intervals last night with lights out.(read it was that dosing at 3 times per day was definitely super safe).

I just read today though that it will kill shrimp. I’ve read conflicting reports on this. I assume this may be the amount of dosing?

I will not do this if my shrimp will die. Bloodfire, scarlet skunk, and one peppermint.

thanks for the input!

That’s a pretty heavy peroxide dose. My peppermint and cleaners don’t have problems with peroxide but I stick to no more than 1ML/10G per day.

Really? It’s very small compared to all the other on humblefish’s major H202 thread.
A lot are doing 1ml/ 1 gallon even.

But if I do the 1ml/ 10 gallons once per day then the shrimp won’t die??

I just want to know the safest dose for shrimp :/ I might just do it as low as yours if your shrimp are okay
I have 5 shrimp in my tank and regularly dos that amount, no idea the upper limit but peroxide does kill stuff in high amounts. A couple seconds exposure of 3% to algae will completely destroy it.

I messed up and overdosed my tank with HP! Just had a mild case of gha and paid no attention to the correct dosing ratio and it irritated the hek outta my Zoas and murdered my cleaner shrimp over a span of 3 days! Noooo Wario! R.i.p. broke my heart... found him behind my nero 5 lifeless. Buuut my Zoas are making a recovery just takes time, I give em 2 more weeks b4 they return to semi normal state so just be very careful with any HP dosing! I feel like HP shouldn't be used under any circumstances if you have any expensive pieces

I dose hydrogen peroxide 3% all by eye but this is a empty tank with rock and sand and a few softies.no fish.i do have a emerald in there tho.but yea its a heavy dose.ive done it in my other nano aswell till it cleared all the algae out and it had softies also and had no problems. Fish and inverts id pull out.a 7 gallon and 12 gallon all in one

I just used a syringe and hit all of my GHA in one go and I lost my cleaner shrimp. Everything else was fine.

I overdosed peroxide with spot treatments and wiped out a chalice, my cyphastrea has STN, and I killed a candy cane head

Also 2x cleaner shrimps are dead
