Hi,
I cleaned out my Lagoon AIO Sump last week due to infeststion of aiptasia and I guess branching hydroids. I emptied the sump down to an inch of water. I sprayed peroxide on the walls and scraped as much as I could while using turkey baster to remove all the nasties. I then poured in maybe 1/4 cup of peroxide in the sump chambers. I pulled out most of the water but had like 1/2” left from the bottom.
I filled the sump back up with fresh IO salt water. Started the pump. My 2 skunk shrimps died first, then lost 2 trochus snails as well. So I removed 3 more gallons of water and added 3 fresh gallons of salt water hoping to dilute the peroxide. Then my 2 peppermint shrimps died.
I waited 2 days and added seachem stability. I added some tisbe in my HOB refugium and looks like they died too. I had a decent population in the fuge. I also used aiptasia-x in the fuge so not sure if that also killed the tisbe pods.
My question is how long does it take for Hydrogen peroxide in the water to dissipate till it’s harmless.
My understanding, when it is sprayed, it eventually just becomes water. It was obviously not intentional to dose peroxide and losing all my shrimp, skunk cleaners are not cheap :-(
Am I just wasting seachem stability if the peroxide is still to strong and killing all bacteria?
