I had some hydroids growing on my rock. Not the colonial type. The type that resembled nuisance anemones. Had them for a few months maybe. I was worried that they’d grow out of control and I’d have to work like crazy to get rid of them. Slowly I noticed they started to clear. Almost one-by-one. I did absolutely nothing to get rid of them.

The only observation I made was I had more filter feeders grow in population that seemed to outcompete them for food. Fan and feather dusters popped up slowly. Spirorbid worms. Various others. Added some xenia as well - not sure if this helped. Oddly, they did go away on their own.

I had the jellyfish kind and the same thing happened. I watched them explode to the point I was afraid to put my hand in the water. Then about the time I was convinced they would stay, they vanished.

That’s the same type I had. I was worried they would take over as I’ve seen lots of posts here. But they really do go away
