Hydroid on my heater?

Are these Hydroids? If yes do I need to get rid of them and how?

Looks to be. Not sure on removal as I've never personally dealt with them :(
 
Being on my heater wonder if I can take the heater out and scrub them off
 
Remove the heater and submerge in peroxide for a little while then, scrub with a clean soft toothbrush;)
 
If they'e on the heater they came from somewhere...I would check the rest of the tank....
