Welcome to R2R! Agree with @Crabs Mcjones colonial hydrioidspretty sure ive got some hydroids but wated to double check with you guys before i go nuclear![]()
Peppermint shrimp do wonders on hydroids! Not 100% sure what they would do on colonial style though, but worth looking into! The dreaded colonial hydroids it is. I am going to "go nuclear" on mine as soon as I get a tank cycled for my inverts.
Okay, well we're glad you tried that at least! We could see how the colonial ones would be intimidating to the shrimp. Sounds like you're on the ball. Good luck! They didn't touch mine unfortunately. There is a chemical that is reported to kill them (I forget the name) but it also kills your inverts so I have to move my starfish and other inverts to another tank for a couple of months while I treat the reef. I already bought the stuff. I just need to get the 2nd tank set up.
how do these things spread? lofe cycle? i am currently rebooting/ new build and want to carry over fish shrimp starfish into new tank/new rock. also skimmer return pump, heater, probes.
want to AVOID any cross contamination. with hydroids and vermtids
