Hydroids of some sort?

Can anyone id these? Lots in my tank. I think some might have stung corals, but not sure. The zoomed in pics are after their 'tentacles' retracted back in, but the tank shots kinda show more what they look like normally. Thank you!

Thank you!! I also just noticed you used a tiger cowrie? Was the banded coral better at removal?

The tiger cowrie was ok compared with the speed off the banded shrimp, I believe it only took him a few weeks to do the work. The good thing with the hobby is that if you buy them from a lfs most will accept them back if they not part of your future plans. I fought them for many years including nuking the tank with Febenzadol the only other chemical that will kill them, unfortunately it will also wipe out all other softy’s and some critters and it’s not effective against this hydroids they always come back in time

I’ve struggled with them for many years, very resistant to chemical approach to the banded shrimp was the most effective solution for me and chemical frer

I wouldn't mind the things if they weren't causing a couple zoas to remain closed; only spot that I can see them/care about at the moment. I'll have to do some research on both the cowrie and the shrimp to see if either will fit my system. They spread like wildfire mine came in a zoa frag and spread to the hole system fairly quickly, small particle food makes it worse

I never thought I'd do this (thought it was a bit much tbh) but I recently started rinsing my frozen food for this reason, figured less particulate the better. Seeing if it makes a difference. So far....sorta? One zoa peeked out yesterday. All in all the rock they're on is just a problem rock, cyano develops in divots, and I have my first aiptasia peeking from under the zoa frag. I'm getting ready to just remove the whole rock and remove the zoas and remove the pests manually...
