I have a bunch of these tiny white things all over my glass, maybe 20 or 30. Every time I clean it they pop right back up. The tank is a 20g mixed reef and has been running for about 4 months. Are they hydroids, feather dusters or something else?

They do look a lot like hydroids but they seem to have more tentacles, or whatever they are, than the pictures of hydroids have. The other thing that has me confused is that the hydroid videos usually show them swimming or moving through the water at some point. I've watched these things for hours and they never move. When I gently poke them they fall right to the bottom of the tank. My Firefish even caught one and ate it before it hit the bottom. I watched to see if he would spit it out and nothing. Apologies for the video quality on my phone but these things are really tiny and hard to focus on. Is there anything else these can be or do hydroids have a phase where they don't move at all?
@Lionfish Lair that's a tough call. There are many different types of hydroids. What happens if you shut down flow? Better pic that way?

Here's a video with the flow shut off. Apologies for the poor camera work but my fish kept getting in the shot and throwing the focus off. They think it's feeding time whenever the pumps go off

Those are medusas.... medusae..... more than one medusa.

Three didn't really fit hydroids.... 20 does. They're fine, unless your breeding fry or you have copepod cultures. They don't last very long.

Oh, awesome! Yeah, I'm not breeding any fry so I'll just wait it out. Now I just have to figure out how to fish my neon goby out of the back compartment on my AIO. I knew something was wrong when he didn't show for dinner
