I don't know how to get them out besides removing anything on which they've grown. That said, I've only heard of them affecting seahorses. I didn't have a problem with them and my fish in a previous tank. At least, not to my knowledge.
its not a Hydroids, it is safe, some type of micro jelly. how new is the tank. i have seem them pop up with IO salt from new tanks and from time to time after water changes. they will die off. thought melv had them listed on his page but didnt see it.
First impression is of a Cladonema spp. of jellyfish but as noted, it could also be a hydroid species. For photos of both, please see the "odds & ends" section of my hitch hiker pages.
I just manage them by scraping them off the glass when I do my routine maintenance. They usually end up in my filter sock and dont become much of a nuisance
From JellyIDFAQs Id: Staurocladia oahuensis - 10/16/07 Hi,
<Hi there, Ben>
This tiny little fellow, about 50 thousandths of an inch across, is presently adhered to the front of my tank: Hydromedusae on aquarium wall on Flickr - Photo Sharing!
<Nice photo!>
He looks like a baby anemone of some kind to me. Any of you recognize the lil' fellow specifically?
<Heeeeee, well, not that one specific individual, but I do recognize the specie: Staurocladia oahuensis. These are tiny crawling hydromedusae, also known as hydroid jellyfish, and are generally not a problem. They typically wax and wane in aquariums, sometimes appearing in great numbers, only to disappear a short time later. Thanks!
