Hydroids?

And I just looked up bryopsis, and that's definitely not it. Just plain old hair algae. We took the rock it was the worst on and scrubbed it, rinsed it, and stuck it back in. We missed a couple spots, but it's much better than before.
you can add a little hydrogen peroxide to the scrub water, it helps to kill it.
If its dead yea dont worry about it.
Its a bit of a trick(3 hands needed sometimes), start a siphon w 1/4in or 3/8 tubing and scrape em off the rock and they get sucked up. Its the same technique used for bubble algae. You can youtube that one too.

Will the peroxide kill the coralline? The rock is pretty covered in it and I'd hate to destroy that if I don't have to. I'm going to watch the hydroid but it looks pretty shriveled compared to the ones I'm seeing on other posts.

Any tips on the aiptasia? We took the rock out when I saw the first one, and it looks like there are tiny patches of it all over, but only one larger one.

This is probably a pretty common sense question but, would it be best to take the rock out completely since it's only on one rock? If not what kind of timeline am I looking at as far as it spreading?

I wish this hobby came with step by step instructions for every scenario [emoji57]

yes a bit, so dont do it if you dont have to.

Oy, thats a judgment call, I cant see them. Theyll spread is the bummer. You can knock down the population manually, I prefer out of the tank, but then you may need to look into berghia nudibranchs or peppermint shrimp. shrimp ar 50/50 IME.

so hard to say, Ive actually had some that didn't spread much and some that were just awful.
Don't do anything until you see some polyps. They could be dead.
yup.

Well tonight I was inspecting my rocks and saw that one of my bottom rocks in the back of my tank has several spots of aiptasia on it. They are all fairly small, but big enough to easily identify. Nothing other than berghia nudis are gonna be able to get back there so looks like that'll be my next step.

Aiptasia are persistent little buggers. Has anyone tried soaking some minced white shrimp in vodka, then feeding it to an aiptasia in hopes that it might get intoxicated, which might enable one to suck them off and out of the tank? I'm thinking it might possibly work.
