From what I have seen in the past I would say yes they are hydroids. I am pretty sure there are lots of variations of them out there.

Looks like hydroids to me, either way I'd try and get rid of'em cause it looks like your zoas hate them.

how do you get rid of them? scrape them off?

are hydroids bad? in my nano i see a good amount of them and they dont seem to bother anything...unless they arent hydroids

dont have any kalk =/ so i just off that lil piece of rock they were sitting on.. =]

no .....nothing woll eat them and they are very hard to get rid of...they have a root base that is inside the rock....if you can cut the piece off that they are on...... as soon as you see them get rid of them....they spread very fast and drift on the current till they find a new place to grow...then you have 2 colony's of them.....i think complete darkness will kill them after awhile....good luck

killing the light won't do a thing.I regularly run total darkenss for 3 days at a time in my tank and they are still there. I have them in my tank and they have been around for a while but they are starting to spread now so I will try some Kalk paste and see what happens. I don't think dipping will do anything to them either. From what I know they are rooted deep in the rocks.

I have a blue sponge that eats it. It grows around and consumes it. I will try to find a picture I took a while back and post it. Kalk also works but is a little messy.

Looks like hydroids,if you cover them, completly, in super glue the colony will die..but you have to cover all of them.....i hate hydroids....
