Little white hair looking things and they are making my zoas close up. What are they and how to I take care of them so my zoas open back up?

Yes they are zanclea hydroids, I only know of two methods of eradicating this one.

1. nuclear is using Febenzadol (this will also kill soft corals and gorgonians) there is a few threads on R2R on how to use it.

2. banded shrimp

Guess I’ll try a banded shrimp and see how it goes before I nuke the tank and kill all my high end pieces lol
Thanks!!

I realize this is an old thread but I am trying to eradicate my hydroids as well. Did the shrimp work?

Unfortunately I can't do that with my 72 gallon. Thanks for the quick response. I literally hate those things and wish there was something out there that would eat them or some kind of coral that would cover them

Yeah I’m surprised someone hasn’t came up with something that takes care of them yet
