The nitrate consumption I suppose is fueling the bacteria film growth. All the glass, the cleaned equipment and even the sump needs to be coated. It is a lot of surface area.

Unless your new aquascape rock was soaked in phosphate dosed water, that is where the phosphate is going, binding to the aragonite. Once it is saturated in equal proportion to your desired water residual, it will stabilize and start to climb.

I don't recall having to force feed nitrate for that long, but I did go through 2 liters of DIY phosphates before things stayed level.

The new aqua scape other than the bases sat in my established reef tank for about 4 weeks, prior to that soaking in a bin where I did water changes using water from my established tank also. I also dosed the new tank to match the parameters with all of the rock in there a couple days prior to the transfer. I agree with your assessment. Starting to get everything covered in a brown dusting of algae today.

5.3 Nitrates and .07 phosphates today. I’m traveling today through the rest of the week so no idea how the coral is doing, wife said it looks ok. She tends to feed heavier than me and that’s fine, I like to run 10 and .10

She said no algae explosion yet, I have 8 bottles of pods from @hollback arriving tomorrow that was delayed for delivery along with an order of rubble coming in from @AquaBiomics to seed 280 gallons worth.

I also mailed an ATI ICP on Monday but the amazing post office delayed if for 2 days so hopefully it makes it by the 12/22 cut off date.

At this point I may have to drain the tank, move it away from the wall, and replace the synergy overflow. When the MP’s surge it sounds like a waterfall, if I close the gate valve to raise the water higher the secondary becomes the primary. I would like to hear from somebody that’s putting 30k of turnover show me a quiet synergy overflow. If I turn the flow down it quiet.

tank is settling in nice so this whole ordeal has been a total disappointment. This is my office as well and having a loud tank is unacceptable, especially with the equipment I went with to ensure silent operation.

This weekend I’m just going to cut up a bunch of different lengths and see what I can come up with. I’ve tried a few so far and nothing seems to help.

Lower the mp’s in the tank if you can. That got rid of my problem similar to yours.

Sorry your having the sound issues with your new set up. One of the headaches of tuning a new system. I'm sure it is especially frustrating with all you have invested in time designing and money. Couldn't you just reduce your return pump output? As long as you have the MP's generating good flow in your DT, you should not need a huge flow through your sump which would reduce the amount of water coming through the overflow. What is the flow rate rating for your Synergy Reef overflow?

The turn over is is about 3 times through the sump, my issues are with the 6 MP’s any type of flow that creates surges in the water level makes the tank extremely loud.

I followed @TX_Punisher advice and moved the MP’s down a bit, while it helped it’s not solving it. I like to have a “surging” wave effect and the limitation seems to be the overflow

I added 2 gyres to mine on the ends once I lowered the 4 mp40 to get the nice surface agitation back. no sloshing or gurgling any longer. You can also raise the water in the tank a hair by adjusting gate valves.

Thanks, if I raise the level anymore the secondary starts pulling a full siphon drawing even more water than the primary. I put taller pipes in forth both the primary and secondary, it’s better but the waterfall hasn’t stopped.

not sure why they make the rear box lower than the weirs on the shadow. Even with the water level at the emergency it still makes the waterfall noise

Your tank is looking great! I love the new setup. My tank was loud at first; however, the overflow has quieted down over time. Of course, now the fans I use to cool it are really loud.

I can tell you doing the cable management was by and far my least favorite activity, I need to pick up a bit more black sleeve to finish dressing the cabling up.

My chair and TV arrived, I have all LG OLED in the house so I picked up a 55” to put in the room. Order a rug, pad, and desk that will arrive sometime next week hopefully.

Next job is to finish picking up, organize the closet with all of the tank odds and ends, clean and polish the floors and going to call the room 85% done.

I haven’t decided rather or not I’ll be wrapping the stand and fixture, like to hear some input from others.

I currently have a 210 Planet Aquarium tank that was installed in May of 2020, the tank will need to be moved temporarily so I figured I might as well upgrade to the largest tank my wife would allow. The target for the tank will be around the end of October to early November.

The tank will be made by Glass Cages. @Joe Glass Cages has been nothing but outstanding to work with through the planning. I called him with one tank in mind and ended up with something completely different but none the less it has been a pleasure so far.

Dosing-
Currently using 3 Neptune DOS's for 4 part and food. I recently purchased a Dosetronic that will handle 4 part that will not be installed until the new tank arrives. I also have a DOS in the garage for AWC.

Testing-
Currently using both the Trident and the Alkatronic, the Alkatronic was a recent purchase that I'm testing. Was off to a very rough start with it but has been working great other than being too noisy for my liking.

Control-
Currently have an Apex 2016 with 3 energy bars under the tank and a fourth smaller bar in the garage for the mixing and AWC station I'm closely watching @Billldg thread on the transfer to GHL. I will not use the KH director but I'm still concerned over the Maxi dosers not being available yet for AWC or ATO from my garage. I really want to move away from Apex but it needs to meet all of my needs right away or I'm not willing to make the switch.

AWC, ATO, Mixing tank setup-

RODI setup-
I have 270+ TDS water with chloramines, water is absolutely horrible. I use a 1-micron sediment filter -> 5 carbon blocks -> 2 Chloramine Monsters -> 2 75 GPD Membranes ->6 stages of DI. Booster pump is set to 90 PSI.

I really don’t want to spend another 1200.00 on a macro lens if not needed
