I have been reef keeping for 6 years and have never owned a controller. With my new build I've decided its time. I'm pretty set on the hydros controllers but cant decide if I really need the 4 or if the 2 (@ less than half the cost) will handle my needs. All I I can find is that it doesnt have the PH probe (made it this far without one) and not as many ports. Am I missing anything here?

That sounds about right. FWIW, I have the 2 and wish I would have started with the 4. I will probably be adding the XS later this year so I can get the additional ports. The good news is that it is very modular so you can easily add controllers without having to worry about a central brain unit.
