Hydros Firmware - Update 242 Problems

Thought I would add to this discussion. I have two XP8 and an X4 Controller. This was my first time updating the firmware and I made the mistake of doing so while driving my kids to daycare. Fifteen minutes after I updated it my wife called in a panic and said the tank was about to overflow. When I looked in the app, every single piece of equipment was set to "override on." Approximately 1.5-2 gallons of ATO water filled a 33 gallon Waterbox and sent the salinity from 35-30 in a fifteen minute timeframe.

All the LPS look fine (some even looked downright happy), the fish are fine, even some of the acros still have good PE and look fine but I know I am going to lose some of my SPS. I brought the salinity back up to 32 or so and filled the ATO with saltwater to bring it slowly back up to 35.

Feel downright sick about this.

This happened today 07/29. Accepting any advice/words of consolation.
Sorry to hear about that. I have used a controller for the entire 6 years this my tank has been up and running. I have never attempted to do a firmware update while I was not where I can see what is happening with the controllers and the tank. Too many things can happen during the transition. I am a beta tester and I did not have the issue and we tried downgrading and upgrading several times. It is hard to know beforehand if the test group has no issues that something like this will happen. This was a major update and normally they do not change as much with each update.

Are you guys aware of this new feature in the new app and firmware? This was copied and pasted here so it has more detail than most of you need to be able to use it but it beats rewriting it completely. I really like is the ability to change the icon on the tile for the inputs and outputs. It now allows you to use the more versatile generic output and combiner outputs and still use the icon for a specific task on the tile. I got some screenshots of me changing the one I now use for controlling my skimmer. The output was originally an output I was using to turn it off depending on certain inputs. Below is a screenshot before I changed the icon for the skimmer. It still has the default icon for a generic output type. The output is 42g Skimmer on the left middle row of outputs.

Below is the normal edit screen for an output. Here it is the 42g Skimmer output. There is an icon of a pencil in the upper left corner. This used to be for changing the name. Now it does either the name or icon.

Below is a screenshot after clicking the pencil. If you click on the icon that is highlighted it will open a menu to select the icon you want from.

Below is the menu for the icons. They do not all fit so I had to scroll to the one I wanted.

Below is a screenshot of the menu scrolled to the icon I want. This happens to also be at the bottom so all icons that are avaliable to choose from are on one of the two screenshots of the menu. Hopefully they will add to them in the future.

Below is a screenshot after selecting the icon I wanted from the menu. Now all that is needed is to click ok and continue.

Below is a screenshot after clicking ok in the previous popup. There is now an upload changes bar at the bottom. I just need to click on that to upload the changes to all controllers and the cloud.

After clicking upload changed bar in the screenshot above you get the screen of the upload status. Below is a screenshot of that screen as the changes were being uploaded.

That is about it for that feature. I have changed several of the icons to match what the input or output is related to. In the top row the DI Level and the FSW Level inputs have their icons changed they used to have a frown face icon. Several of the outputs related to ATO or AWC have had their icons changed to match the ATO/AWC icon.

So I just got a notification for 244 I'm hesitant in downloading it anyone have any issues? Lol now I'm gun shy, great....
I updated to it without any issues. Do you have the app for it. I think it is 2.3.4. It won't work with the old app.

Thanks for posting that I was scratching my head on how to do that when I saw that was a new option in the update.

Just saw 244 this morning and installing it now on my wave engine le. I was running 197, then upgraded the other day to 242 and now 244. Hoping one of these fixes the random stopping of gyres.

Yeah the "pump fail" notice on the status page.
..nope
Some pumps won't run correctly below a certain percentage. That may be one of them and low speed might be set lower than what is required to keep it running. I have MP10's and they can go very low, but they way they are controlled the wave engine would not know if one failed or not.

That must be it thank you

I'm using a pair of gyres - xf280 and the icecap4k. It is only recently that I noticed them both off which was odd. I rebooted the module/engine and they recovered.

Another time it was user error where I had a setting for like 1 hour as I was trying to learn the app. In any case this recent stop thing is new so just going to watch. Overall I think it is a fine product but would really love to have a standing wave like I was able to do before with the maxspect controller.

244 is installed and running fine to the best of my knowledge with my wave engine.

Happy to note a couple of things to follow up on my previous post. 244 downloaded and installed without any issue and I only lost (as of now) one acro frag to the ATO issue. Mind you, it was my Walt Disney frag which sucks, but it’s better than I could’ve hoped for. There’s a couple of trouble spots (but of tissue recession on tips) on a couple of other acros but it seems to be stable.

I can’t get around this message, if you go to the older web version it gives another message that it’s too old and won’t work. IDK…

This is the exact same problem I keep having. I am about to throw it across the room
