Having difficulty setting up xp8 and x4.
Thought I had the xp8 set up with a collective but no lights lit up for status, mode, WiFi or collective on the xp8.

plugged the x4 control in with bus connector and a terminated one in each spare port.

the x4 doesn’t seem to be recognized when searching for devices.

your help is appreciated.

@n2585722 @JeffB418 - can you offer any tips or suggestions?

The XP8 does not light up the same as the other control units. Look on the app and see if all your controllers are there like the screenshot below. This shows three controllers the one on the right is an XP8. Also note below the page menu is a green bar that says collective ok. If there was an issue that bar would be red and have a different message.

Collective is ok. But the control bus isn’t lit up or showing in the app. I have the cable plugged in from the xp8 to the x4 and the two terminated inch or so in length cable in the spare bus port on each device. I made sure to set up the xp8, then unplug it before plugging in the cable from the xp8 to the x4.

I don't see the X4 in the collective. Was it added to the collective? The first controller in a collective will retain its setup information. Anything added after that will loose all input and output settings.

No, the x4 never showed up as a device by the app. The collective was setup with just the xp8 from what I can tell.

You need to add the controllers to the collective. They do not automatically add themselves. Click on devices in the left menu and click on the + in lower right corner of the app. It will erase any programming you have setup in the X4 when it is added to the collective. So you may want to take some screenshots of any inputs and outputs setups you have on the X4. Also any wifi strips setup with the X4 will have to be paired with the collective.

You did setup the X4 like you did the XP8 to your wifi? It has to be setup also before you can use it. Also make sure you rename the controller when you setup the wifi otherwise you will be stuck with the mac address as the name once they are in a collective. Here is a link to collectives in the online manual https://www.coralvuehydros.com/product-support/hydros-control/hydros-collective-101/
The x4 hasn’t ever shown up as a device to add. I’ve attached a photo of how the xp8 and x4 are physically connected.

There are no lights on the X4 when powered up? That one should have lights lit unless it is during the night period. If Not unplug the power and switch the control buss cable around with the terminators on each controller and power it back up again. The X4 usually breaths pink until it is setup.

No lights on the x4. I’ve never seen anything that makes me think it has power running to it. No power cord came with the x4, only the cable that runs from the xp8 to the x4.

The XP8 has a power supply that should power several controllers. Mine powers three at the tank where the XP8 is at. in the screenshot below the XP8 has a negative buss current reading. That is because the other two controllers are drawing current from the buss. The reading is the buss current used by the XP8 minus the current used by the other controllers.Does yours have a reading there? If so what is it?

Bus current is 16 mA.

If I calculated right my XP8 is drawing about 43ma. So the Control 4 is using some current but not near as much as mine which is currently 50ma. You may want to submit a support ticket with CoralVue for this issue here https://support.coralvue.com/submit_ticket
