I am setting up a 20g long. I want it to house a bunch of euphylia, other lps and some softies. I am planning to get a seachem 55 for the filter that does about 250 gph. I like the hygger pumps and want to get one. Would it be better to get 20 and place them very low or get one and blast it a bit?

If your speaking of the Hygger Wave Makers I have both the Nano 1600 models and the larger 2650 models. The Nano wave makers are nice little units once you get an understanding of how to program the controller for your 24 hour cycles. On a 20 gallon long I would for sure recommend (2) of them. Place them about a third way down at each side firing toward one another. One will not give you enough flow due to the long dimension on the tank. The 1600 GPH is only a legit measurement if the program is running at 100% power and in mode 3 which is when the wave maker is constantly on like a regular power head. When you start using modes 1 or 2 which are the alternating wave programs with a ramp up and down feature the 1600 GPH measurement isn't realistic. The Hygger design I like as the ease of maintenance to disassemble and reassemble is easy and they are well built. Honestly if your budget isn't maxed out I would actually go with (3) putting the one of on the back glass in the middle firing to the front of the tank. Amazon runs these for 69.00 each or the larger for 100.00. Take caution buying from them as many times you get one that someone else returned for whatever reason. I ran (2) of the larger ones on my 40 breeder and had them running at 30% of their power and had more than enough flow. I ended up changing them out for (4) of the nano 1600's and put one in each corner and the corals did well as the flow was plenty.

I appreciate the depth that you went into on this comment. I don't even have any questions from your comment as it answered everything. Thanks!

If I may ask I have a 42 gallon red reef g1 200xl and ordered 2 hyggar pumps, https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B083LP42WZ?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image

Will this be sufficient for my tank or will I need a third? Thanks!

On a 42 (x3) Nanos are for sure necessary. Honestly I would say (x4) with one in each corner BUT for the cost you might at well go with the larger 2650 models. They are on Amazon as well and run 100 each. (2) of these will for sure give you plenty of flow running them at 60% with plenty of adjustment to dial them up more if you like depending on rock scape and corals.

Mr. Price, I probably should have asked how heavy your tank will be stocked when it comes to the rock? My feedback was revolving around minimal amounts of rock. If you go heavier on the rock scape than 2 may be borderline running at 100% and placement will become a bit more important.

I do not plan to have a lot of rocks

I wanted to add my experience on these as well. The larger on puts out a decent gentle cone of flow that is probably good for 15 inches. You need 2 on a 29 gallong or 20 long. The smaller one was super quiet but, i returned because you arent getting much fliw past 12 inches imo.
