I have two green spotted puffers that are going through quarantine right now. I don’t want to use copper and not a big fan of TTM. if I take them to full fresh water, do I need to keep them there for 30 days or is the timeline shortened. They will being brought back to full salt afterward.

The timeline should be considerably shortened. I have heard of velvet surviving in full fresh for a short time, ich ... not at all. I should think that a couple of weeks would clear any marine disease, but others may have differing opinions.

@4FordFamily, @Big G, @HotRocks ... any thoughts on a timeline for bringing a spotted puffer through full freshwater, as a QT method? (Wish this would work with some other fish I can think of!)

2 weeks is sufficient. I don't personally have any experience doing so. I am going off of data regarding Marine parasite life cycles and surviving FW is very unlikely for either ich or velvet for a 2 week duration.

Wouldn’t that be nice. Thank you everyone.
