I faintly remember this happening about 8 years ago or more last time I used hyposalinity-

My tangs were nastier than ever to each other and new additions than I've ever seen. No real damage but I've never seen chasing and harassing on this scale. I have two 180 gallon tanks I am doing hypo on now due to a ridiculously strong strain of ich, and my three tangs in my angel tank are also more aggressive than usual - ever since I dropped the salinity.

I know it's a small sample size but I have a lot of tang experience especially with multiple tangs. It's very odd to me. The same thing happened when I dropped it over two days from my qt prior to going in to the 180 that was also hypo. I got them used to it prior. My carribean blue and Achilles which had been existing mostly in harmony got in to it a bit.

After a few days things have settled to maybe normal +20% aggression although everyone gets along it seems like everyone is very irritable.

I guess it makes sense but I was curious if anyone else had experienced this?

Curious, what did you drop the salinity down to in the display tank, also how long did you hold it at that level?

1.007. The aggression "began" at 1.012. It seems to have neutralized a bit but my PBT is still absolutely terrible in my angel tank. Both 180 are currently at 1.070 and have been now for two or three weeks I lost count.. Lol

assuming the drop was of SG was slow, was the progression in aggression noticeable at a particular set point during the lowering or was it at the endpoint of 1.007?

EDITED: nevermind you answered that question, how long are you planing on maintaining the SG level?
