I have a 90 gallon mixed reef tank in need of help. Unfortunatley, after a great loss of my fish population in my 90 gallon. I pinpointed the problem to be some form of parasite. Two fish have survived the disaster. ( six line wrasse and scooter blenny). Eventhough they are showing no sign of disease I have decided to put them in a hospital tank so I can treat the main tank by the Hyposalinity treatment.

Little more background: I also have a 120 gallon mixed reef that is rocking with great coral growth and no problem.

My question: What are your thoughts about me taking out my corals in the 90 gallon and putting them in my 120 g? I plan on dipping the corals with Coral Rx prior to placement in my 120g. Yet, I am a little worried. I don't want two problems tanks.

I do believe if it is a fish born parasite and you do the dip on the corals I don't think you will have a problem but you never know i have seen some weird stuff happen in reef tanks. As far as the hyposalinity on the whole system i believe it depends on what inverts you have in there if you have a whole bucnh of crabs and shrimp I wouldnt but if you canget them all out I say go for it. But that is just my opinion and I haven't herd of anyone hypoing a whole tank before but I assume it can be done.

Bump.. anymore thoughts from the gang would be appreciated

I think the coral rx dip should do the trick but like Steven said, it's no guarantee. Hypo works but I like to use it in conjunction with something else. I prefer cupramine. If it's just going to be fish go for it. If you have any inverts, they won't appreciate the hypo and obviously won't be able to handle the copper.
