I’d this coral for me please

Ok ok stupid saw this coral at the lfs. For 10 bucks. I know it’s sps. Name was written down and I didn’t take it. Oops. So what is it. Think is starts with an m

Which one? I see a stylophora, some zoas, and a possible duncan(maybe blasto?), and not sure what the whiter one is. tough to tell from the pic.

If you could take a close up pic without so much blue that would be very helpful! Also, can you circle the piece you’re talking about?

If you're talking about the one on the right with the greenish tint, it looks like a Space Invader Pectinia. I could be wrong of course but it looks very similar to one I purchased recently. I am going to try and post a quick video if the system allows me to. When I initially saw it at the coral shop I go to it did not have the tentacles flowing around like you see in the video and looked very similar to what you show in your picture. I took the video to email to the shop I bought it from because I was convinced he had sold me something that introduced a new type of worm into my tank....LOL.

Not a pectina.....but its on the tip of my tongue.

Its a Pachyseris I believe
Almost like a lepto.

Update: Looking at it again under whites i may be wrong....the skeletal pattern is more pronounced.....i dont think hydnophora tho :/

Ok wow advanced hobbiests only. Lagoon coral. Wow. Has never seen it before there was a bunch of healthy frags at the lfs. Got it for 10 bux. Thought I’d try it wish me luck. Thanks everyone for the help

Also called cabbage ridge, this coral rarely displays its polyps but may at night. It does require high light and placed in higher part of tank under good to high water flow. Its' sweeper tentacles used to gather food can reach 3 inches keep it at least 4" away from other coral. It also requires good amount of iodine, calcium, strontium, and aminos in its' environment making it somewhat challenging.

You could say that due to its requirements. Know what youre buying and why for this very reason, and based on impilse or beauty. Generally the real pretty ones are the challenging ones. With most everyone having a smart phone, best to look it up BEFORE talikng to a sales person and take a screenshot so you remember name of coral

99 percent of the time I know what I’m buying. For 10 bux thought it would be fun. I’m doing my best to give it what it desires. Hope it likes reef roids
