I’m so over Hanna checkers and want to know what else is out there?

Don’t get me wrong, I love the ease of use but I’ve had two of them crap out on me within a week of each other. They’re well cared for too. Have had them less than three years, the Nitrate one probably less than 2 years. I do not have a Neptune Apex system so please don’t recommend Trident. I have CoralVue Hydros controller.
I have Salifert test kits for Ammonia, NO2 and now for NO3 (because Hanna stopped working) and now can’t test PO4 cause that one has stopped working too. I put in fresh batteries - they won’t turn on

The bottom covers are interchangeable. Did you try another cover?

For po4 I would only recommend Hanna or Elos high resolution, but if going for Elos check they have corrected the test count, as they claim over 100 tests per kit when it’s actually 30.

I’m on my second Hanna phosphate checker, the desktop blue model. The first one lasted 5 years or maybe 6.

That’s quite the discrepancy!

They are all just hobby grade test kits. Find one that you like and are able to use accurately and reproduce steps easily. Who cares the name on it none are really that much more accurate.

I use Hanna for Phos and Nitrates since I am colorblind. I can also use titration kits since I can notice the color change.

Yep, I thought it was a mistake so rang the shop, they sent me a replacement, that was the same! They then realised it wasn’t a mistake! They contacted Elos but I don’t think they appreciated the heads-up but luckily the shop was fantastic so sent me another 2 refill kits to make up the count to what was advertised.

You have battery polarity correct? After change out. Did you try holding button down for like 10seconds after taping once?

Yes to all. I like them but definitely can’t afford to replace 2 of them because I need some other things too
