Noticed a couple of days ago these small little black ball looking things near the base of my Gorg. Yesterday they were gone, but the flesh is turning black and it has spread to my other Gorg. Havent added anything to this tank and I dip everything. These guys have been in the tank nearly a year.

I already know Im going to have to pull the rock and remove the Gorgs from the system. I will put the rock in QT and monitor other corals for any signs or symptoms. But my question is what on the world is this??

Polychaete worm? How far out have you seen it extend? I pulled one off an elegance coral that was over 2 feet long that looked black and gray like the pic you took. Definitely qt the rock you saw it creeping out of.

The Gorgonian is not receiving enough flow and nutrients are such that cyanobacteria and algae are taking hold. Unfortunately this is a common demise of the gorgonians in the average system

+1 and i also see a flatworm on your mushroom.

Sorry, I was looking at that pic on my phone first thing in the morning. I mistook your gorgonian for a big black polychaete, my bad. There are definitely flatworms in at least two of those pics though.

I didnt even notice the flatworms! Ugh, this just gets better and better lol! I have a yellow choris wrasse, its small, but would it take care of the flatworms?

How do you feel about a Halichoeres wrasse in your system?
I have a 5" in my larger tank, he does great! This problem is in my smaller tank, its only a 42gl. I may see if I can find a smaller melanarus one. My only worry would be compatibility with my small yellow choris.

After seeing another post where the persons entire tank crashed after using flatworm exit, I'm hesitant. Would removing the individual corals and dipping them AND removing the fish to a qt tank before using the flatworm exit be a good idea?
