I am new, I have a stoke which makes hard to understand what I read. Is dose of vinegar to lower nitrate? What is calcium hydroxide is function. Thanks Ed

Yes, when vinegar is dosed, one of the main reasons is to reduce nutrients, especially nitrate.

Calcium hydroxide is a way to maintain calcium and alkalinity levels by dissolving it in fresh water and then very slowly adding it to the aquarium.

Ed,
I'm sorry about your stroke and the effects that came with it.

But... We're happy :) that you've joined Reef2Reef.
