We recently got skunk cleaner shrimp for my tank. I actually got into saltwater tanks just to have one. The jewel of the tank I guess. Because of this I have been excitedly watching them with my son over the past week. Well one setup shop on top of my rocks. However none of my fish would have anything to do with them. I was kinda feeling bad for him and wondered what would happen. I was a bit unprepared for the next part but my shrimp must have said the hell with it and jumped on my cardinal and forcibly cleaned him.

We were amazed that it would do this. It brought me back to the military days in Italy when the group commander had to lecture the wing on how its not good to ride the village cows. Then my son ruined it when he ran off to telling mom how he just seen the skunk cleaner shrimp “r ape clean” a fish. Now I can’t unthink this and the little cowboy hat I was making just doesn’t make sense anymore.

Funny story! My fish never go around my cleaner shrimp.

I have 3 cleaner shrimp that hang out on the far right of my tank. My fish were very eager to get cleaned when I first added my shrimp. The shrimp seemed intimidated at first and a couple of the fish all but. forced them to clean them. Y multi colored angel, anthias and sailfin tang especially enjoy being cleaned by them.
Another good cleaner are neon gobies. Sadly they can be surprisingly hard to get or super small when you find them. They are pretty easily captive bread so not sure why they are hard to find. The worst thing about them is they have a pretty short life span of only about 3 years. I usually try to keep a couple in my tanks, although I do not currently have any.
