I’ve had my trident running for a several months now. I’ve been watching my Magnesium levels for n more than just... a daily basis. I have only been dosing for about a month. Before I started dosing, my average Mag level was 1225... ish. I was shooting for 1,350... ish... not chasing a number, just keepimg it near there and brining it up slowly. I took me 3 weeks to hit 1,350 the first time. I’Ve been watching...

be.ow is a pic I can’t explain. The date shown at the beginning is the last I dosed. I used the BRS calc to bring it up about 20 ppm.. and what I dosed worked. Now, all of the sudden, my Mag is going up on its own. I have not dosed Mag since Aug the 12th.

Why is it going up on its own?

Curious as to what your calcium has been doing ? Monitoring my trident, I can see a loose inverse correlation between mag and cal. Graphs of each almost mirror each other if all things equal. I'm not the one to tell you why, just my observation of my tank.

Below is a pic of my calcium for the same exact period. I still have a tank full of softies and a nice sized CUC. I am not seeing a real “inverse reaction.” My last water change wa on the 15th... of this month The water change explains the movement is calcium. I have not dosed calcium since before this graph.

Are the reagents low in the Trident?
I have heard that low reagent bottles will show a rise in levels.

Those changes are small. My expectations are the answer is test error, or salinity changes. Salinity hardly needs to change for 1350 ppm magnesium to become 1360 ppm. A sg change from 1.0260 to 1.0262 will do it.

Wow, I would not have guessed that. Thank you

I may be due to water level / evaporation changing salinity. When Trident shows a bump in something I have not changed, it's usually because I forgot to fill up my ATO :)
